Totally Tubular 2026: Spring-Loaded Telescoping Clasp

Live, Virtual 1-Day Workshop

When: Saturday, October 10, 2026 – 9 am – 4 pm Pacific (includes 1 hour lunch break)

GENERAL INFO: The Totally Tubular series of three one-day workshops teaches three tubing-based clasps (Spring-Loaded Telescoping Clasp, Hinged Bracelet Clasp, and a Bayonet Clasp with internal mechanism), each of which use distinctly different mechanics for closure. All three are technically “fiddly” with a fair amount of precision measuring, sawing, and filing to complete – I’ve scheduled in order from most forgiving of imprecision to least so you refine your skills as you progress through them.

NOTE: Individually, $175 per clasp day, but save $50 by registering for all three Totally Tubular Workshops using code “TOTALLY2026” at Checkout (must be purchased together for single participant)

DAY ONE: Spring-Loaded Telescoping Clasp – Skill Level Advanced Beginner/Intermediate

This amazing nested tubing clasp uses a steel spring to hold the tension that keeps a set of nested tubes in an inner double-ended plunger snugly inside the outer tube’s cradle. Great for bracelets (easy to open and close for almost any wearer), and a beautiful way to finish a multi-strand necklace of pearls or beads, and could also be used as a centerpiece by itself on a wide leather band.

This project will refine your precision sawing, filing, and fitting skills and introduce you to a mechanic that can drive other styles of clasp work in the future. Students can expect to go home with a partially completed clasp and the knowledge to finish it in their own studio.

Price: $175 (Includes access to the class recording for 60 days)
